STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHT 2 & 3 MODIFICATION

HALO SWORD (V.3)
================

DESCRIPTION: Version 3 of my popular Halo Sword model. I've put a lot of time into making this as good as possible; I really wanted version 3 to be what comes to everyone's minds when they hear 'Halo sword mod'. Although it is mostly what I was hoping for, I may yet make a few more tweaks. We'll just see.

For this version, I've improved the blade structure (version 1 and 2 had a really messy model for the blade) to make for higher-quality textures (the UVW Mapping was disgusting prior to this version), added an animation to the blade textures (you may have to look closely, but there ARE little electric bolts zapping all over), and added a NON-dynamic glow. The glow was my big problem with the last version...relying on JK3's dynamic glow made the bloom around the sword very faint in JK3, and sometimes completely unnoticeable in certain environments, not to mention it left JK2 with a very boring-looking sword. Well, I've overcome that by adding a non-dynamic glow. It looks pretty decent (reminds me of video games from the late 90's) but sometimes the glow doesn't hide its polygons very well. Still, you'll have a hard time getting to angles where it will look a bit funny, and even then, it's not awful.

To top things off, I've created a Halo Sword to match every saber color, as well as assigned them to NPCs for the Single Player modes. Oh yeah, and keep your eyes out for a couple little bonus things, too ;)

INSTALLATION: This mod was designed to work 100% for both games, but installation is slightly different between them:

JK2 - Drop 'HaloSword (v3).pk3' into your 'base' folder (usually located at 'C:Program FilesLucasArtsStar Wars JK II Jedi OutcastGameDatabase'). That's it.

JK3 - Drop 'HaloSword (v3).pk3' AND 'HaloSword (JA Compatibility Addon 1.3).pk3' into your 'base' folder (usually located at 'C:Program FilesLucasArtsStar Wars Jedi Knight Jedi AcademyGameDataBase'). That's it.

BUGS: As much as a tried to make this mod bug-free, there are still a few issues that inevitably remain:
1) Don't bother using First-Person mode. It WILL look awful.

2) ONLY use Halo Swords when this mod is in your base folder. Lightsaber blades don't show up on regular hilts, making gameplay awkward.

3) Because of the texture-based glow, force speed and saber throw will temporarily make the sword look slightly weird (i.e. boxes appear on the sword for the duration of the force power).

CONSOLE COMMANDS (JA ONLY): In JA, you can use the console to switch weapons. To do so with the Halo Sword, press Ctrl + ~, type in 'helpusobi 1' (without the quotes) to enable cheats, and then enter one of the following:

saber single_halo_b
saber single_halo_r
saber single_halo_g
saber single_halo_o
saber single_halo_y
saber single_halo_p
saber dual_halo_b
saber dual_halo_r
saber dual_halo_g
saber dual_halo_o
saber dual_halo_y
saber dual_halo_p

You can also mix together the single sabers for dual-weilding (i.e. saber single_halo_b single_halo_r). Basically just remember to enter the saber type (single_ or dual_), 'halo_' and the first letter of the color you want. Note that selecting a Halo sword color DOES NOT change the trail, floor glow, and colored lighting. You have to change that as well by entering something like: sabercolor 1 blue. If you have more than one saber, type 'sabercolor 2 blue' to do the same to the second.
