D E S C R I P T I O N: High Stakes Duel is an arena in which a fall means certain death. Make your way up to the fighting ring by force jumping up a series of platforms and catwalks. Basically the story behind this map is that some crimelords have made a business out of this arena by capturing fighters and making them fight. How is the money made? In two ways. First, the observation box, which is divided into three parts, and the two outer parts are seating for many bloodthirsty criminals (who have already been arrested and can't risk fighting, and have resigned themselves to watching violence instead). These criminals bet on the fights just as people bet on horse races. Anyone who is lucky enough to win will actually find they are not so lucky, as the greedy crimelords kill winners rather than give them money. However, there are five crimelords who sit in the middle observation box in more luxurious seats, and they are not content to split the money amongst themselves. To resolve this dilemma, they each place bets on who they think will win in the finals of each tournament. The winner takes all: Thus it's high stakes gambling!

C O M M E N T S: I did this map in one day. There are a couple of flamejets in the map. Do not fear burns from them; they are your friends. Except for CTF, all the game types are supported.

B U G S: None that I know of. However, in MP, you'll want to run towards the flame jet, and keep holding the forward key. If you back into the higher flamejet, you will be propelled too far. This isn't a problem in SP.... I don't think there is any Z Fighting, but report any in the comments.
I admit that the most annoying thing about this map is that it is not very easy to get to the top ring... perhaps I should have installed a lift?

TEXTURES: metalgrip.jpg-- 2dvalley.com AND finewood1.jpg--http://members.at.infoseek.co.jp/godhandevilleg/works/texture/index.htm
The other five new textures I made myself with GIMP.
MUSIC: The music is three songs in one. Personally I think one gets too repetitive, and having iTunes in the background slows the game. The first 2 pieces are from the anime Rurouni Kenshin, composed by Noriyuki Asakura. The first is Drum and Bass/Jungle, the second is of the Jazz genre. The third piece by Peter McConnell, from the game Grim Fandango (incidentally by LucasArts). It's jazz as well. I thought it would be fitting to the situation as it might be what some crimelords would listen to. Not that I know from any personal experience....
