Tournament of Ieyasu

Long ago, in a time near forgotten, the Jedi Order numbered in the thousands. One man particularly respected and feared for his skills was a Jedi named Ieyasu. It was said none could equal him in combat with a lightsaber, and it was he who founded the tournament on Kai. Use of the force for attack is not allowed, lightsabers are set to a non lethal setting through careful manipulation of their crystals. Any man who can wield a saber, Jedi or not, can enter the tournament and try to prove their skills. This year, I have travelled to Kai to participate...

Character Selection:

Go the NEW in the menu to begin the level. You can either choose to keep the settings for your Jaden from Jedi Academy by going to START NOW. Or you can create a new character using the character selection system. Think carefully about the saber style you choose, you will face opponents of varying styles in the Tournament of Ieyasu.

Levels:

Level 1 – You must prove your skills with a lightsaber are sufficient to compete in the tournament by passing a test of some kind. You are given a map directing you to ruins on the planet, and told to head there to face the tests…

Level 2 – The tournament proper, where you must face opponents of varying skill and style to reach be crowned champion of the Tournament.

Characters:

Otso Malkas

Race: Human

Style: Heavy

Saber: Green

A skilled warrior who utilises a single, green lightsaber. He is well known for his aggressive, heavy style and endurance - though his is vulnerable to quicker opponents. He has done quite well in this tournament in previous years, and is well respected. His name means 'Bear' in the native language of his home planet. His background is not very well known, he is rather a mysterious figure at the tournament.

Kadra Romanus

Race: Zabrack

Style: Dual Sabres

Saber: Blue / Orange

Kadra is a Jedi Knight with a fast growing reputation. With a tremendous Zabrack endurance, strong all-round skills and a blinding dual saber style, Romanus looks to have a strong chance of victory. Her only apparent weakness would also be one of her main strengths – the dual bladed style is both deadly in attack and a little vulnerable on defence at times. It can be hard to coordinate two blades in defence, and this could prove to be the area an opponent must concentrate on to beat this fearsome saberist.

Plar Koon

Race: Kel-Dor

Style: Light / Alternative Light / Medium / Heavy / Alternative Heavy

Saber: Orange

A nephew of legendary Jedi Master Plo Koon; himself but one of many Jedi in a family with very strong connections to the force. Plar Koon showed immense abilities as a child, although these had to be kept secret until the fall of the Empire. He began training as a Jedi much older than is usual, but his skills prompted the council to make an exception. He has shown great wisdom for his age, and great courage. It said that he may one day become a Jedi to match his Uncle, and many are backing him to win this year’s tournament.

Akral Adramilen

Race: Trandoshan

Style: Alternative Heavy

Saber: Purple

An imposing figure indeed, this Trandoshan warrior is a dangerous foe. With a heavy, powerful style and immense strength and stamina, he is considered one of the dark horses for the tournament. His saber skills lack finesse however, and this may yet prove his downfall. Previously a mercenary, Akral had a life altering encounter and decided to wander the Galaxy, getting into adventures and such.

Jad Kataphra

Race: Chiss

Style: Light

Saber: Blue

An outsider with a reputation for bravery and daring. Hailing from somewhere in Chiss space, Kataphra is something of an unknown quantity at the tournament.

Aelana Chevalie

Race: Human

Style: Light / Alternative Light

Saber: Green

Aelana is a padawan; training at Luke’s famed Academy on Yavin. She has shown exceptional skills with a lightsaber from the very beginning, and petitioned the council to be allowed to enter the tournament to test her skills further. Aelana has a fast, agile style and can switch between a one or two handed stance with apparent ease. She is fairly defensive and cautious and lacks the strength and resilience of some of the other contestants, but she should not be underestimated.

Aldres Sunessa

Race: Human

Style: Medium

Saber: Yellow

Aldres recently attained the rank of full Jedi Knight. He is young for such an honour, but has proven level headed and courageous time and again. He fights with a balanced medium style, which is skilful if not highly unpredictable. His understanding of the force is his greatest asset as a Jedi, and he is only a capable swordsman by their standards - but his agility, intelligent tactics and bravery are bound to test anyone. This is his first entry into the tournament, though he did accompany his Master there last time it was held.

Fire Strike

Race: Unknown

Style: Light / Medium

Saber: Orange

Fire Strike is one of several entrants in this years contest from the mysterious Lightsaber School on Dantooine. The founder of the school is extremely secretive, his own identity remaining hidden from all but the highest ranking members of the staff. This school teaches a powerful but flexible style of saber combat that utilises flurries of attacks upon opponents. Fire Strike seems to be one of the most skilled members of the entrants from this school, and is tipped to do well.

Night

Race: Unknown

Style: Saber Staff

Saber: Green

Night is another highly rated member of the Lightsaber School on Dantooine, often referred to as the Kal-Laz School (for this is the doctrine they teach). Night uses a Saber staff to deadly effect, allowing him to unleash hugely powerful and nearly unstoppable assaults. His main weakness seems to be a slight overelliance upon attack, and his defensive skills are not among the best in the contest.

Caldes Mendoza

Race: Unknown

Style: Saber Staff

Saber: Purple

Mendoza wears a strange suit of armour, apparently of Mandalorian descent, much like famed bounty hunter Boba Fett. No one knows exactly what he does; rumours unsurprisingly suggest he is some sort of mercenary or bounty hunter. One thing is for certain - he is a very tough, aggressive and skilful opponent. His armour seems amazingly resilient, although it does hamper his movement somewhat.
