File name : Borg_Drone.pk3

Extract the Borg_Drone.pk3 to your base folder in the game's directory.
EX: gamedir/GameData/base

**Optional Steps:
The shaders in the zip are optional additions. Put in the ONE shader file that you want. Mixing and matching is not recommended as some shaders take precedence over others, although you may try if you wish for untested results.

If you would like a bald head instead of the textured one, put the zBald Borg_Drone.pk3 in the base folder, as depicted above.

If you want to use some bald icons for the skin, put the zBorg_Drone Bald Icons.pk3 in the base folder, as depicted above.

.pk3s are loaded alphabetically so if you are going to rename files, keep their loading order in mind.

**See note about online play

Comments/Description:

Better late than never. Although then again, it is probably too little too late. However it feels good to complete something than leave it lying around mocking you for not completing it.

This is version 2.0 of my Borg skin that is based off the Borg species in Star Trek. It has many improvements over the last version. Some changes are big while others are subtle. I didn't exactly like how my first Borg skin turned out, so I decided to try and make a better one. I still couldn't draw very well so I used a lot of pictures to make this skin. I think it turned out quite nice. I wanted to use the prisoner model as I like it and the skin looks fine without its own model. I can't model either, so I had to make use with what I can capable of.

The Borg Drone is based off of Hugh pictures, the body anyways, but the head doesn't match exactly well. I was going to leave it bald, but I put some textures there anyways to please people so it wouldn't look so plain. I think it turned out pretty good. If you don't like it and would prefer a bald head, put the zBald Borg_Drone.pk3 in the base folder, as depicted above. The pk3s are loaded alphabetically so if you remove the z in front of the name, the baldness will be loaded after the main head texture and won't show up. I hope you like it.

This is my second released skin and my first attempt at shaders. I was able to get modview to work so that helped in the alignment of textures. I learned that textures are very hard to align and most I didn't bother to do, too much time and effort for sub-par results. The shaders took a lot of work too, being my first attempt, but I think I did well. The shaders are supposed to be like the shininess of a Borg_Drone's metal parts or the shield that appears on the Borg_Drone when it adapts.

I was going to release a version of the skin earlier but it didn't have new shaders, or a textured head. I thought it could be a bit better, to please myself, so I aligned a few textures, like the boot textures, and made new icons, shaders etc.

You can spawn the Borg_Drone by typing NPC Spawn Borg_Drone when cheats are enabled in Single player. I wanted him to have a lightsaber or at least the Wookie weapon, but I didn't know how to do that. You can still spawn the character though, it just holds the rifle in a strange position.

The Borg_Drone Bots in multiplayer are on the light side so that it resembles regeneration and adaptation.

If you really want to look for imperfections, like the Borg themselves, the hands don't align perfectly, nor do the shoulders, and there is a small smudge on the front of the torso. I didn't think it was worth a lot of time to fix those.

If you want to use the skin in a project please keep this original read-me with the file, and E-mail me about it.

Online play- I have tested this skin over a LAN with the different combinations of the files in the zip. Apparently as long as it is not a pure server, you may use any shader modifying the skin on your machine and your opponent using theirs and as long as they have the default Borg_Drone.pk3, you will be able to see each other using the Borg_Drone skin. For example, If you were to use the baldness from zBald Borg_Drone.pk3, and your opponent didn't use it, you would see every Borg_Drone bald online, while the opponent would see Borg_Drone skins with whatever he chose. Not affecting normal gameplay. This lets you set up the skin exactly as you want it to look and not worry about not being able to see other people using the Borg_Drone skin.

I do not know if the skin works in JKA as I do not have the game to test it.

Sources:

-I used pictures and sounds of Borg Drones from various websites in the making of this skin. Many were copied and pasted and smoothed in. If any Borg textures or sounds happen to be yours and you don't want them included on this skin please tell me so that I may remove them.

Some items I know I used were:

Yota of Borg: http://www.theory.org/~strthrwr/pictures/yoda.html
E-mailed him and never got a response so used anyway.
Hugh Picture, or something matching it:

Sounds:(I do not know exactly where I sound them all, over a collection of websites but I found where some of them can be found.)

By searching sound file names, apparently here although there are no sound files there now. http://fly.srk.fer.hr/~timm/Sounds/

Improvements:

Changes from Version 1

*Different Name: "Borg Drone" is more correct than "Borg" as Borg refers to the Race of Borg and their society makeup, not a single individual.
*Higher quality and New sounds: Less static and Popping plus a few new or changed sounds
*New Textures: Obvious
*Shaders:Slightly shiny, Plasma shield look, and Dark Plasma Shield, your choice.
*More Texture Alignment
*Adjusted Bot File.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Known Bugs:
*There is a small opening between the face and the head and is a problem of the model, not my doing. Not noticeable during actual gameplay.
*When spawned in single player, character holds weapons in strange position.

If you know how to fix any of these bugs please feel free to E-mail me about it at the address listed at the top. Please no Spam.
