======================================================
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - Jedi Customization Pack - beta 1 public release
======================================================

AUTHORS: LukeSkillz, Raziel2121, (Raziel-Xin hilt model [bryar saber] by Khaliban), ('A New Hope Luke' skin by Alphan_Jijua)

DESCRIPTION:

Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy introduced to us a new concept: customizable Jedi. Well, no longer does that have to be exclusive to Jedi Academy. This mod gives you the ability to use a custom Jedi created on the same bases as the JA customization options. You choose a model, then you choose that model's head, torso, and legs by mixing and matching from several options.

However, don't get the idea that this pack is based off of JA. There are many more customization options here, and most of the skins are original to the pack; never before seen.

This is mainly a single player mod, as very few skins have team support and some will just return you to the default kyle if you play teams, but for FFA or other non-team modes, selecting Kyle as your multiplayer character will apply your custom Jedi to MP games.

As an added bonus, the saber color mods include a script that enables mass-dismemberment (no blood though, so don't worry about family-friendliness)

BUGS:

This is mainly a third-person mod, for two reasons: 1, because you don't see the player skin very much unless you're in third person, and 2, because certain models interrupt the first-person camera, making it awkward or entirely unusable. If you wish to use this pack AND first person camera, I have heard of another mod that fixes such camera issues for you; it may be worth seeking out.

Using this pack with JK3 will usually yield success, but occasionally you will run into bugs. Don't be surprised if you run into missing textures or model errors, but if you know much about the game engine, you can probably fix all these yourself. The only reason I haven't is because of all the testing time it would require and because this is still just beta 1. Full (and tested) JK3 compatibility MIGHT be a feature of a later version.

INSTALLATION:

Before you even begin, find a place where you can keep the Customization Pack permenantly, so you can keep coming back to it and checking out/using the other options. Once you have found such a place, Browse to it from the SFX extractor, and click 'Install'.

1: Make a folder in your GameData folder (usually located at C:Program FilesLucasArtsStar Wars JK II Jedi OutcastGameData) called "JK2 Custom Jedi".

2: Make your choices. Navigate through the 'models' folder in the customization pack to find what model you want to use for your jedi, and then also decide the skin combo you want to use. Most combos are split between head, torso, and legs, but occasionally there will be more options.

3: Install the files. Put the '<modelname>_default.pk3' into the 'base' folder (located inside the GameData folder). Put the skin files in the "JK2 Custom Jedi" folder that you made earlier. Also put 'cp_assets0.pk3' into the "JK2 Custom Jedi" folder.

4: Launch JK2 and use your custom jedi! Don't forget to go to 'Setup', 'Mods' and select 'JK2 Custom Jedi' from the game menu, else the custom skin won't apply.

5: If you wish to use one of the lightsaber color mods, be sure to put the autoexec.cfg AND the <color>_ic.PK3 from the color folder into the 'base' folder.

6: If you wish to use one of the lightsaber hilts and/or blades, simply put the the pk3's of your choice into the base folder.

7: If want to make your own skins for the pack, or you just wonder why you have to install things this way, read the commentary. It explains how the different files work.

8: If you make your own skins for the pack, upload them to http://www.jediknight2.filefront.com/ (or someplace else...but why would you ever NOT want to use filefront?) and let us know!

HOW TO USE WITH JK3:

It is quite possible to use this pack with JK3 as well as JK2. Ironically, however, while using this mod in JK2 will predominantly be useful in singleplayer, using it with JK3 will predominantly be useful in multiplayer (unless you just want to modify how Kyle looks in the single player campaign...which WILL happen as a side effect, by the way). "How do you use it with JK3, then?" you ask? Well, simply install your custom jedi as you would for JK2, launch JK3 multiplayer, load up the mod (you should have made a folder in GameData called "JK3 Custom Jedi") and then choose Kyle as your player model

(WARNING: KYLE'S DEFAULT ICON MIGHT BE REPLACED WITH THE CUSTOM JEDI ICON...DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU CAN'T SEE KYLE'S FACE IN THE MODEL SELECTION SCREEN, HE IS STILL THERE. ALSO, WHILE MOST FILES WILL WORK JUST FINE, COMPATIBILITY IS NOT GUARANTEED DUE TO LACK OF TESTING. NOTE THAT SOME FILES HAVE ADDONS THAT MAKE THEM COMPATIBLE IN JK3).

If you decide you want to use the custom Jedi in Single Player, then first make your pk3 choices, load up the game, press "Shift", "~" to bring up the console, enable cheats by entering "HelpUsObi 1", and then enter this cheat: "playermodel kyle" (of course, without the quotes).

Lightsaber blades should all work just fine in JK3; just drop the blades of choice in your JA 'base' folder.

To use hilts in JK3, you will have to do a bit of editing on the pk3. There are many ways you could do this, but probably the easiest is just to open the hilt pk3 of your choice (use WinZIP, WinRAR, PakScape, etc.), copy the 'saber' folder from /models/weapons2/ and rename the copied folder to 'saber_reborn'. DON'T DELETE THE ORIGINAL FOLDER. Close/save the changes to the pk3, launch JK3, get in-game, and in the command console, enable cheats using "HelpUsObi 1", and then type in "saber reborn" without the quotes. To dual-wield, type in "saber reborn saber reborn".

OTHER INFORMATION:

THIS MODIFICATION IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY ACTIVISION, RAVEN, OR
LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LLC. ELEMENTS TM & © LUCASARTS
ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LLC AND/OR ITS LICENSORS.

YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO CREATE YOUR OWN SKINS FOR THIS PACK AND DISTRIBUTE THEM WITHOUT ASKING US AS LONG AS YOU DON'T TAKE CREDIT FOR TEXTURES THAT WE, THE AUTHORS, HAVE ALREADY CREATED.

YOU ALSO HAVE PERMISSION TO USE TEXTURES FROM THIS PACK IN YOUR OWN CREATIONS AS LONG AS THEY ARE ADDITIONS TO THE PACK (SEE 'ADD-ON INFO.TXT' FOR MORE DETAILS).

NOTE:

Make sure not to have conflicting files in your base/JK2 Custom Jedi folders! This means that you shouldn't have more than one <model>_default.pk3 in the base folder at once, skins for a different model than your current one, etc. There have also been found a number of SP Kyle replacement mods that prevent the custom Jedi from showing up, so be sure to remove those before using this one!
