Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy minimizer Readme
------------------------------------------
This is a Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy minimizer, meaning that you can
use two hotkeys to minimize and restore JK:JA while it is running.
Supported platforms: Windows 2000, Windows XP.
Unsupported platforms: Windows 98/Me.
Quick Start guide
-----------------
1. Unzip the archive to any directory, such as your Jedi Knight 2 directory
2. Start the application, it loads a small icon to the System Tray area to let you know it's active
3. Start Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy as you normally would
4. During the game, you can use these default keys:
CTRL + Z to minimize JK:JA
CTRL + SHIFT + Z to restore it again
5. You can also click on the icon when Jedi Knight is minimized to restore it
6. To configure your own hotkeys, see below
The icon in System Tray shows the status of the game. If it is running, the icon looks like the standard Jedi Knight shortcut icon. If it is not running, the icon has a small circle and a line drawn over it, like a 'stop' sign.
Right-clicking on the icon will pop up a small menu, from which you can see the Quick Help guide, configure your own hotkeys, and close the application.
Left-clicking on the icon will restore Jedi Knight if it is currently minimized
Configuring your own hotkeys
----------------------------
You can use custom hotkeys to minimize and restore Jedi Knight, if you do not like the default keys. To customize your own keys, right-click on the tray icon and choose 'Setup..' This will open a new dialog, in which you can define your own hotkeys for both actions.
Note, that it is NOT recommended to overwrite common hotkeys like CTRL+C, ALT+F4 or ALT+X for this use. This may result in unwanted system behaviour or instability issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------
Q: When minimizing Jedi Knight, my desktop is terribly bright and I can't see anything !
A: This is caused by 'r_overBrightBits' setting in the game. Setting it to 0 will fix the problem.
Also check your 'r_gamma' setting for ridicously high values like 2 or 3.
Q: Why did you do this application ?
A: I hate ALT+ENTER, it takes way too long to minimize Jedi Academy that way :(
Q: Nothing happens !!
A: Check your Jedi Knight Video Setup. It has an option named 'Full Screen'. Check that this
option reads 'On'.
A: If you have a german keyboard, try pressing 'CTRL+Y' instead.
A: If nothing else works, you can try to redefine the hotkeys (See above)
Known bugs
----------
The hotkey setup is not available in Windows 98/Me. Use the default hotkeys, CTRL+Z and CTRL+SHIFT+Z to minimize/restore the application.
Also, the minimizer might NOT function under Windows 98/Me. This is an OS specific issue.
The application requires Internet Explorer version 4 or better be installed in the system.
