Mod Description: This is a skin modification. Skins are where the model (physical attributes) remain the same, but the texture (the surface image) is modified. This skin is of Chewbacca in a ghillie suit. A ghillie suit is a class of camouflage clothing designed to resemble grass and foliage, to allow one to better blend in to their environment, compared to results achieved by wearing a camouflage-pattered BDU. The ghillie suit is worn by hunters, photographers, and military snipers, and can often limit attraction to the human eye to such a degree that the person may be rendered completely undetectable.*

How To Install: In order to install this mod (and typically others as well), simply extract the file "Skin_GhillieChewie.pk3" (contained in this .zip folder, or folder if already extracted), and place it in Jedi Academy's base folder.

You can find the base folder in the directory in which you installed Jedi Academy, by navigating in this fashion:

Drive: > Install Path > Game Data > base

The default base folder directory (for Windows XP users) is:

"C:Program FilesStar Wars Jedi Knight Jedi AcademyGameDatabase"

There are various ways of extracting the "Skin_GhillieChewie.pk3". You can drag-and-drop, copy-and-paste, or use the .Zip File Extract wizard, usually performed by right-clicking on or in the .zip folder and selecting [Extract All...]

Once the "Skin_GhillieChewie.pk3" is within your 'base' folder, the mod is installed, and you may select the skin in the multiplayer profile menu in-game. Just look for the icon of a camouflaged Chewbacca, hiding amongst your other player-model options!

Mod's Known Bugs / Glitches: One thing that may affect your pleasure with this model is the brightness of the ghillie. It may be either too bright or two dark (probably the former) depending on your monitor and in-game brightness settings. My apologies, but there's little I can do.

Comments: Aside from the brightness issue, it's just a skin, there shouldn't be too much to find and hate about it. Textures may seem a bit low resolution, but I'm wondering if that's just because of the UVW mapping. Nonetheless, I'll admit it still seems a bit stretched some how. I tried improving it several times, but it usually ended up looking worse, so I decided to consider this version 1.0.

* Speaking as a former marine who has made his fair share of ghillie suits over the years for hunting and other sniping purposes, the ghillie suit really is the modern-day realistic application of active camouflage or invisibility. Now, this skin doesn't quite work as well as a ghillie suit would in real life, but every time I looked at the Chewbacca model, I could see the method of skinning a ghillie suit on him, and so, after a few years went by, I finally decided to put one together and make a mod out of it.
