Description: This is a beta mod of two new saber styles; single backhand and dual backhand. The main inspiration for these is The Force Unleashed 1 & 2. I'm not a fan of those games, but a large portion of our communitty is so I decided to make these as a communitty request. However it would be impossible (for me) to replicate the level of animations that are in TFU and the style of gameplay, therefore these are meant not to be Starkiller's styles exactly, but generic backhand styles like what Ahsoka, Adi Gallia or others would use as well.
As a beta this mod is unfinished and probably has bugs that I haven't found. I'm wanting the communitty to help me test it out and give me input on what needs to be improved. Here is a list of the animations that I want people to take a look at:
Single backhand attacks (7 total)
Dual backhand attacks (7 total)
Force animations (push, pull, 1 hand lightning)
Run and walk animations
I am aware that there are no new parries, special moves, or attack transitions so I do not need any input on those. I will work on those once the attacks are considered acceptable to me and the communitty. I overwrote the staff and dual styles so that if you want to use the single sabers or guns the animations will work for them still.
I also replaced the 'lean' functions when in 3rd person with an attempt at implementing manual blocking and it is more of a success of concept than practical to use. If people do not like it then I will remove it.
Requirements: This requires a backhand mod to play! It won't work as intended without backhand sabers! Also make sure your JA game is patched. This shouldn't need it, but some backhand sabers do.
Installation: Drop the file Katanamaru Backhand Styles.pk3 into your base folder or other mod folder of your choosing. The animations are attached to a specific model of Starkiller. You MUST use the playermodel command to use these! Open the console (shift + ~) and type in: playermodel dbgalen
That's all there is to it.
Bugs: The dual backhand style will not work with JO models! JO models do not have a 'left tag bone' and therefore cannot recognize the fact that it is sometimes rotated. If you find anymore bugs post them here in the comments, email me, or post them in the following thread: http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-modding-mapping-editing/425805-dual-backhand-style-wip.html
The sabers included cannot switch styles by using the saber style key alone. You must turn off the saber and then use either '1' for duals or 'saber style' for the single. If you don't want to do that then you will need to download another backhand saber. AshuraDX and HOUHOU both have made numerous great models that I reccommend.
Credits: Thanks goes out to HollywoodG1 for letting me use his TFU2 Galen skin. I thought that this skin fit better than the Galen model I've been working with previously since the dual style is from the second game. This is the best Galen reskin yet IMO.
Credit also goes to AshuraDX for making the new sabers that are included in this mod. If you look closely you can see that the crystal inside the saber hilt actually glows. This is a fine little touch.
The OJP team for helping me when I was first learning to animate and having patience with me throughout my learning.
The Tales of the Sith Lords team for motivating me to try and animate actual fighting styles and not just stances.
The Filefront Forum members who gave me inspiration and motivation to work on these.
Please do not use this beta in any other mod right now. Once I get some more progress done I'll allow anybody to use this however they want, but not right now.
