Alright, I started this map only a few days ago. It's a small map, unless you count the eye candy, of course.
=_,O Anyway, I got the idea when I was first listening to my new Pink Floyd CD: A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Yeah, yeah, I just got it. I don't go out to buy CDs much... >_> Anyway, the idea came to me when I saw the title:
One Slip of the fourth track. Now, naturally, I have a sense that has music making my ideas, mostly maps, and I was
just compelled to make a map out of this. I had the thought of a map that would test the coordination in intense
battles, specifically a horizontal cylinder on which to fight on, which also fit the name: One Slip, meaning
"One slip and you're dead." Well, I added more than one cylinder, some platforms, etc. etc. and it eventually came
out to what you see before you! And voila! A musical masterpiece has been brought to life in a three- dimensional map!

This map, being my third release on JKFiles, has successfully become the only map I have worked on for
three straight days without wandering off into another project of mine. Well, I had gotten bored with it after the
first hour or so, but after I started adding in those glass tubes extending from the middle to the four major points
with the glowy sexiness inside and tested it, I realized it could have been so much more! Now, at that time, it was
essentially just the mid section with those four major platforms and some pipes attaching them together. After adding
the glass tubes to the pipes, I knew I had to have some sort of point in the middle to which they'd be going to, like
a power source. So, I made the one big tube with more glowy sexiness on it, though in a different style rather than
what I had already implemented. Then I noticed how the four platforms didn't have anything good on them, so I did the
same with those. Then, seeing as how maneuverability would be hindered as there wasn't anywhere to go after reaching
one of the edge platforms, and a single tube going from the ends was much too long to battle on, I set up four more
minor platform points in which to get off of the pipes for a bit.
It went through many bugs, most of which came from the fog and music (finally got that .mp3 down, once and for
all!). Oh, I should also mention that I had originally wanted a blue fog, much like Rift's fog, only that wasn't dense
enough for covering up the ends of the supporting tubes going up and down, which caused me to try and make my own fog,
which failed horribly because shaders like that don't like to work with me... =_= First skyboxes, now fogs... I hope
my glow shaders still stick around... >_>
Oh, and did I mention that I love glowing sexiness? No? Well, guess what? ... I do! =D The entire map is lit
with glowing textures. Absolutely no light entities were used here! The first couple of versions had some, but they
were becoming a nuisance to compile (added in with the already massive amount of glowy textures, it was Hell... =_=).
So yeah, and I honestly think that the music here fits extremely well with the fog and the theme. So, I guess
that I should be glad that blue fog didn't work. I kind of like this one. Makes it seem more... mysterious and creepy,
much like the song itself. =_,O

And I had better get this part out of the way, too: The two skins you see in the last screenshot are not
included nor can be found anywhere other than my computer, so don't ask why they aren't coming up. =_,O




Map includes:

-Many on-the-edge areas to test your coordination and jumping skills
-Thick black fog to add a bit of extra cover
-Glowing pipes and other things to easily spot your prey with
-Precariously placed weapons (none that would disrupt the idea of the map, like the Rocket Launcher)
-Nine platforms for duels to ensue (no way you're holding even a small free for all on any one of them), giving way to Team Duels
-Comes in gametypes: FFA, TFFA, Duel, and Powerduel
-Completely base-textured through the entire map! So no extra space for useless textures
-A (somewhat) unique idea with a good concept in mind

Installation:

Put the pk3 file, OneSlip, into your Gamedata/base folder of your Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy
directory. That's it! Go try it! =D

You must ask me for permission to use this map in any of your mods, but hesitate not, for I wouldn't mind
seeing what the community can think this map good for. =D But remember, ask me first. =p
